H.H. Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs, today chaired the Ministerial Council Meeting for Services, which was held at the Presidential Palace in Abu Dhabi, where participants discussed features of the proposal for a national plan for people with disabilities, which aims to unify national efforts to promote the integration of people with special needs in various fields of life and raise the level of services and programmes available to them.
Some of the plan's goals include raising awareness at all government levels about the needs of disabled people in various fields, increasing the number of specialists, and improving the skill-set of those who work with them.
The plan is a result of proposals submitted by the Ministry of Social Affairs last year which are consistent with federal government objectives and its vision to promote Emiratisation, develop capabilities, increase efficiency and productivity, as well as transition from a social welfare system to a social development system.
During the meeting, council members also reviewed the new government electronic system designed to improve the function of human resources, workforce capacity building, as well as to organise and provide a standardised methodology and technology for all ministries and departments in order to reduce work duplication and maintain accurate sources.
