The Ministerial Council for Development chaired by H.H. Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs and Chairman of the Ministerial Council for Development, has discussed means to protect loaned foreign cultural objects of significance against confiscation.
It also tackled a number of policies and initiatives pertaining to housing and public health.
During the meeting, the Council discussed a proposal presented by the Ministry of Culture and Knowledge Development on the protection of loaned foreign cultural artifacts of significance against seizure or confiscation as per international norms in this respect.
The impact of issuing protection law will positively reflect the UAE's compliance to best international practices. Once adopted, the law will be the first of its kind in the region, which contributes to enhancing the UAE’s position on regional and international levels.
The Council also discussed the establishment of a national policy to promote mental health through a national framework in order to raise awareness and improve services to the best international standards, in partnership with mental health providers.
The proposed policy will have a positive impact on services provided for people who need psychiatric assistance by reducing the cost of treatment, increasing the quality of services provided, and providing comprehensive psychological services in a sustainable and healthy environment.
In the Legislative Affairs, the Council also discussed a proposal to prepare a federal law with regards to the Emirates General Transport and Service Corporation, Emirates Transport, in order to provide prospects for expansion and to keep pace with the strategic directions of the government to raise the level of services provided. The proposed law will allow Emirates Transport to compete with other companies operating in the same field.
The Council also discussed the proposed amendments to Federal Law No. 10 of 1999 concerning the Sheikh Zayed Housing Program in order to enhance the capacity of the program to provide better services to the UAE nationals.
The Council also reviewed the results of the 2016 human resources annual report of the federal agencies along with other agenda items.
