The Ministerial Council for Services, in a meeting today at the Presidential Palace, discussed a proposal regarding the supportive government policies for national industries aimed at enhancing the competitiveness of Emirati national products.
The meeting was held under the chairmanship of H.H. Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs and Chairman of the Ministerial Council for Services.
The policy is meant to introduce a new unified brand which says, "Proudly Made in the UAE'', as a means of identification and promotion of national products manufactured in the UAE and compatible with systems and regulations for industry specifications and standards.
The policy was prepared as per the assignment of the Cabinet to the Ministry of Economy to set a government policy which enhances national industry.
The new brand aims to unify the identify of Emirati products and distinguish them from all other imported goods.
The policy is in line with the approach and vision of the Federal Government to diversify national income sources through the development of the industrial sector to increase its contribution to gross domestic production and boost green economy principles.
The Council also discussed a number of other issues and agreements on the agenda.
