Mansour bin Zayed chairs meeting of Ministerial Council for Services

Under the chairmanship of H.H. Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs, the Ministerial Council for Services today met and discussed an initiative to use energy-saving lamps to light up the country's federal streets.


In addition to saving energy, the initiative is aimed at protecting the environment, sustaining natural resources and developing sustainable infrastructure by using environment-friendly technologies that reduce light pollution (photopollution), save money and ensure safety.

The Council also discussed coordination between federal government bodies in preparing and drafting policies and legislation to serve the process of decision making.

The Council also reviewed regulations for organising competitiveness in the UAE, based on Federal Law No. 4 for 2012 to promote economic development, protect consumers, ensure innovation and creativity and encourage investment and research in line with the UAE Vision 2021 and the National Agenda.

The Council discussed proposals on regulating the telecommunications sector and proclaiming the Martyrs' Day, to be observed on 30th November, as a federal public holiday.
