His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs, affirmed that the sacrifices and heroism of the nation's martyrs would remain immortal throughout the ages, alive in hearts, medals of honour and pride on the chest of every citizen.
His Highness said, in a message he addressed through the Nation’s Shield Magazine on the occasion of Commemoration Day, "Martyrdom and self-sacrifice embody the pinnacle of valour, the highest levels of honour and the most extreme levels of expression of altruism in love of the homeland, loyalty and belonging. It is priceless sacrifice and giving.” The full text of the message follows:
“On this day, November 30, adopted by our country as a national occasion on which to uphold the values of redemption, sincerity and giving, we have the honour to record the sincerest expressions of thanks and appreciation for the martyrs of the homeland who have sacrificed their pure blood for the sake of protecting their country. In doing so, they are inscribing the greatest pages of sacrifice and valour, and may God have mercy on their untainted souls.
“We extend also our ultimate expressions of thanks and gratitude to His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates, for his generous directions to dedicate this day each year as Commemoration Day. We further express our appreciation for the wise leadership's generous care of the families of the martyrs and their children, and in honour of the symbols of loyalty for which they set an example in the love of the homeland and the raising of its flag.
“Martyrdom and self-sacrifice embody the pinnacle of valour, the highest levels of honour and the most extreme levels of expression of altruism in love of the homeland, loyalty and belonging. It is priceless sacrifice and giving. For all this, the sacrifices and heroism of our martyrs will remain immortal for all time, alive in our hearts, and they are medals of honour and pride on the chest of every citizen.
“On this day, which is a national acknowledgment of the status of our nation's righteous martyrs, we extend our appreciation to the soldiers, officers and leaders of our armed forces and members of all our security services, who are keen to protect, serve and defend the homeland. We salute, too, the daughters and sons of the homeland working in all arenas of giving and redemption.
“May God rest the souls of our martyrs in peace, and grant them the highest paradise, as they have fulfilled their covenant with God and the homeland.
“We ask God Almighty to reward their children and families with the greatest honour for their strong faith, composure and unalloyed patriotism.
“May God save our country, have mercy on our martyrs, and preserve security and safety for our country.”
