Mansour bin Zayed chairs meeting of Food Control Authority

H.H. Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Abu Dhabi Food Control Authority, yesterday chaired the second periodic meeting of the authority for 2014.
 
During the meeting, the Board approved the minutes of the previous meeting and the content of its terms and adopted the budget of the year 2015, as well as being briefed on the annual report of the Internal Audit Department and the periodic report to the management system of environment, health and safety.
 
The Board of Directors agreed to participate in the membership of the Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research (CGIAR) to benefit from the experiences and researches of members centres and upgrading agricultural research systems in the emirate.
 
The board also endorsed a plan of the project to develop and strengthen capacities in the field of diseases of camels in Abu Dhabi in collaboration with the World Organisation for Animal Health, which will contribute to promoting the capacity of diagnostics in veterinary laboratory.
 
The Board approved a proposal to link farms of Al Wathba with the leading project of Wastewater to benefit from it in irrigation.
 
He stressed the need to focus on training of farmers and raise awareness, in addition to reduce the use of chemical pesticides which contribute to the sustainability of the agriculture sector in the emirate.
 
Sheikh Mansour approved the idea of the interior award dedicated to employees of the Food Control Authority aims to motivating them to raise the level of performance and to spread awareness, as well as to develop and build a culture of excellence among them.
