H.H. Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs has affirmed that the U.A.E.'s achievement of the first position globally as the most generous donor of official development assistance (ODA) in 2013 is an historic achievement which reflects the humanitarian vision of the country's wise leadership and the values of solidarity and compassion upheld by U.A.E. and sends a strong message to the world that humanitarian values should prevail in relations between states and that backing brothers in times of crisis is the way to achieving peace and stability.
H.H. Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed said, "According to the data released by Development Assistance Committee (DAC) of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), our country has set a global precedence as its total foreign aid in 2013 increased by 375 percent to AED19.1 billion. This confirms that our country under the wise leadership continues to follow in the steps of our late father Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan in providing relief for the relief for grief-stricken people, supporting the needy and providing decent living for the underprivileged." H.H. Sheikh Mansour added, "I seize this historic occasion to express heartfelt congratulations to President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and His Highness General Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces on this recognised achievement which earned U.A.E. global appreciation for its efforts to promote the values and practices of human fraternity, as well as its commitment, since the establishment of the U.A.E. Federation, to the vision and path of its leadership."
