President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan H.H. Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Khalifa Award for Education has hailed the generous support extended by President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan His Highness General Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the U.A.E. Armed Forces, and Chairman of Abu Dhabi Education Council, to education and to the prestigious award which represents a vital addition to education both the Arab region and globally.
H.H. Sheikh Mansour made his remarks at the awarding ceremony of the 7th Edition of the Khalifa Award for Education (2013/2014) at the Emirates Palace Hotel.
"Based on is recognition of the central role education plays in building human resources as the foundation of civilisation, progress, progress and wealth of nations, U.A.E. has made education a top priority and is providing all forms of support to this sector in order to upgrade and develop curricula and support the human resources running it." "The award was created in order to encourage, motivate and honour creative individuals working in this field in U.A.E. and other Arab countries, and to provide a modern educational environment that encourages and nurtures innovation and creativity, supports excellence and encourages nationals to engage in the profession of education, as well as promoted the linguistic identity of U.A.E. through adopting Arabic as its official language," added H.H. Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed.
Sheikhs, ministers, senior officials from U.A.E. Arab countries, diplomats and academicians attended the award ceremony which saw the honouring of 39 winners including Dr. Khaled Toukan. Chairman of the Jordan Atomic Energy Commission who was named Educational Personality of the Year for 2013-2014.
The Khalifa Award for Education was established in 2007 with the aim of promoting and developing education in U.A.E. and Arab countries through supporting and encouraging innovation and creative individuals working in this sector. The award recognises excellence in the field of education of individuals, schools and institutions and is aimed at raising educational standards across Arab countries.
Offering a total of AED3.6 million in prize money to winners of its current edition, Khalifa Award for Education accepted entries from educators from U.A.E. and the Arab region in 11 categories including public education, higher education in the U.A.E. and the Arab region, special needs, creative knowledge networks, new media and education, education and sustainable environment, education and community service, educational research, projects and innovative educational programmes, educational authoring for children and written work based on scientific methodology.
