H.H. Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs, yesterday attended, at the Presidency Palace, the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding, MoU, between the Emirates National Schools and the UAE Muay Thai and Kickboxing Federation, with the aim of raising awareness about the importance of sports and creating a sporting environment that encourages innovation and giving, as well as promoting sporting competitiveness among students.
The signing was attended by Ahmed Mohammed Al Humairi, Secretary-General of the Ministry of Presidential Affairs and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Emirates National Schools; Abdullah Saeed Al Niyadi, Chairman of the UAE Muay Thai and Kickboxing Federation; Dr. Abdullah Al Maghrabi, Chairman of the Schools Executive Committee, along with several officials from both sides.
The MoU, which was signed by Dr. Vedra and Al Muhairi, aims to include the sport of Muay Thai sport in the activities of the Emirates National Schools, due to its effectiveness in terms of physical and personal training, by organising weekly tournaments that will be supervised by skilled competitors and trainers. The Emirates National Schools are the first in the country to include the sport as part of their activities, which will benefit 10,500 students.
