HH Sheikh Mansour: instructs MoPA to form teams for Government Games 2018

09/05/2018

In line with the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs, the Ministry of Presidential Affairs (MoPA) formed its own men’s and women’s teams to participate in the Government Games, which took place on the Kite Beach in Dubai from May 9-12, 2018.

The idea of government games, initiated by HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin
Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council, is to consolidate the principle of teamwork and promote team spirit among government employees.

The competition, which involved teams from 139 government institutions from around the world, included a number of tough games designed according to scientific criteria.  These ranged from physical challenges, such as wall climbing, jogging and weightlifting, to mental games, such as building aid tools to overcome challenging hurdles and solving complex puzzles that require high levels of concentration.  All these obstacles could only be overcome through a rigorous collective approach and great team spirit.

MoPA’s Sports Committee supervised the formation of MoPA's teams, which comprised MoPA employees and included both a seven-man team and a seven-woman team.  Prior to competing, the team members went through careful selection interviews to ensure their fitness to compete.
