H.H. Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs, opened on Saturday two ADNOC environment-friendly and energy-efficient service stations - Yas 1 and Yas 2 - on Yas Island in Abu Dhabi.
Suhail bin Mohammed Al Mazrouei, Minister of Energy, Abdulla Nasser Al Suwaidi, Director General of ADNOC, and Chairman of ADNOC Distribution, Abdullah Salim Al Dhaheri, CEO of ADNOC Distribution, and a number ADNOC top managers, attended the opening ceremony.
The two stations have applied the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED),
a suite of rating systems for the design, construction, operation, and maintenance of green buildings, homes and neighborhoods. ADNOC Distribution is seeking to acquire the LEED Gold certification for its new green service stations to validate their compliance with globally recognised standards in the measurement of design, construction and the operation of eco-friendly buildings.

''ADNOC Distribution is adopting a strict strategy to raise environmental awareness and deliver environmental and developmental sustainability within its commitment to its values and principles which pay maximum attention to conservation of natural resources and contribution to development of local community,'' he added.
The company said more than 50% of building materials including blocks, aluminum and glass were supplied by local manufacturers to reduce environmental impact of transporting these items from far afield.
The facilities also contain machines to reduce excessive water consumption as well as environment-friendly air filters to ensure optimal indoor air quality. Dyeing materials and paints used will also conform to low emission specifications The two green, energy-efficient stations also boast of having advanced waste-recycling and waste-disposal
systems, 50% shaded parking lots and electric car chargers. They are also fitted out with energy-efficient lamps and air conditioners using non-toxic gas that minimally impact the ozone layer.
The company is also planning to launch a chain of green stations in future.
